The ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development says the just launched four year third Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MDGS III) will ease poverty burden in the country.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Davis Sado said the strategy which will run from 2017-2022, will among other areas address some hiccups facing agricultural sector which is the country’s economic and food backbone.
“The MGDS III will open economic fortunes for farmers and the nation at large as players in the agricultural sector will make profits out of their sweat,’’ he said.
He also said the document has highlighted on how as a country want to build on agriculture and make it one of the key priority areas as it contributes much to the country.
Sado explained that the strategy will help in addressing challenges in agriculture, water resources, climate change, education, energy, transport parks and wildlife.
