Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has allayed fears that the Malawi Under-20 call up will affect performance of school-going players ahead of their end of term examinations next week.
FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda told YFM online that they have made arrangements with the schools which the players are involved to ensure that they do not miss education.
“We are aware that the Malawi Under-20 call up will clash with end of term examinations for some of the players.
“I can assure the nation that education is very important and we have made arrangements with the schools that the players involved will have to write their examination during the forthcoming two weeks holiday,” he said.
He added that FAM is giving preference to the players involved to attend school before appearing for training sessions at Chiwembe.
Some of the players involved are Ronald Pangani and Haji Wali from Silver Strikers Youth, Omar Ngulinga from Machinga Fifa/FAM Under-17 Select, and Stanley Biliati from Disciples FC of Zomba.
Malawi is preparing for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Under-20 first leg qualifier against Swaziland on March 30 in Lilongwe.
