Police in Limbe have arrested a man for allegedly being found in possession of stolen house hood items worth 2 million kwacha.
A 32 year old, Jimmy Nantunga from Kachere township was arrested on March 20 this year when the police conducted a search in the township.
According to deputy Public Relations Officer for Limbe Police, Widson Nhlane, the police in Limbe received reports of house breakings that occurred in the townships of Kachere, Maone, Machinjiri and Makhetha and other surrounding areas.
“Following the reports we received, our CID officers conducted a search in the township and other surrounding areas that led to the arrest of Jimmy Nantunga in connection to the items we recovered,” Nhlane said.
The items which include, a Plasma screen, Microwave, a Home theatre, desktop computer and other valuables like kitchen ware are being kept at Limbe Police Station for identification.
However the investigations on the case are ongoing and police have advised the public to report to police if they have information on the matter.
Nhlane said the suspect will appear in court soon to answer charges of breaking into a building and committing felony which contravenes section 311 of the country’s penal code.
Jimmy Nantunga hails from Mwana Village in the area of Tradition Authority Kalembo in Balaka District.
