The Malawi National Netball Team, the Queens, have suffered a setback in the on-going Four-Nations Taini Jamison Trophy in New Zealand on Friday, following their loss to Jamaica’s Sun Shine Girls by 55 baskets to 66.
The defeat comes just 24 hours after the world’s sixth-ranked Queens celebrated a 67 -52 baskets victory over the 12th ranked Fiji on Thursday.
The defeat against the fourth placed-Jamaicans, is the second in the tournament after another loss in their first game against the hosts New Zealand who humiliated them by 42-75 in their opening match.
The Queens were trailing by 13 to 15 baskets in the first quarter, 26 to 30 baskets in the second quarter, 44 to 47 baskets in the third quarter, and 55 to 66 baskets in the fourth quarter.
The result means the queens are tied on three points from three games creating milestones to claim the trophy.
The home side maintained Thursday’s starting line line-up comprising of Mwai Kumwenda, Sindi Simtowe, Bridget Kumwenda, Thandi Galleta, Joana Kachilika, Towera Vinkhumbo and Loreen Ngwira.
