World Vision with funding from the Global Fund will this year start distributing 9 million mosquito nets across the country to fight malaria.
Director of Programs at World Vision Malawi, Charles Chimombo told YFM Online that preparations are underway for the exercise.
Chimombo disclosed that the nets are expected to be in the country by June 2018.
He said the mosquito nets will be distributed to families with under five children.
“We are putting everything in place on how to distribute the nets and creating awareness on how they can use the nets,” Chimombo said.
Malaria is the number one killer of under-five children in Malawi
Chimombo said prevention of malaria is the major aspect that needs to be looked seriously as it affects many children in the country.
Chimombo emphasized the need cooperation with other non-governmental organisations to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
World Vision is assisting the Malawi Government in a move to end malaria campaign under the global initiative.
