Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development will soon start compensating farmers whose farms have been affected by dry spells and the Fall Army worm.
The Publicist in the Ministry Osborn Tsoka said in an interview that as one way of assisting the affected farmers they issue out planting materials like cassava and sweet potato to the farmers.
“ We are seeking assistance from seed companies on which some have already given us legumes seed to benefit farmers that was hit by dry spells and Fall armyworms.”
“Government will soon give out 200,000 metric tons of maize to farmers whose crops were affected,” Tsoka said.
He said that farmers need to plant crops that are dry resistance and also water irrigation.
Out of 18 District whose farms were affected by dry spells and fall army worms mostly are from southern region.
