A social analyst, Lucky Mbewe, has bemoaned the disgraceful conduct of some law enforcers who are found in conflict with the law in the country.
Recently, a police officer was implicated in Machinga in the abduction and gruesome murder of a 22-year-old man with albinism, Macdonald Masambuka.
Masambuka was reported missing on March 9, 2018 and his body was later found on April 1, 2018, buried in a garden near his house.
Mbewe told YFM that such kind of behavior is a humiliation and a threat to the integrity of the law in the country.
“Police officers have the obligation to protect citizens of the country and therefore have to be first to abide by the law,” he said.
He called upon police authorities to ensure that justice is served in the case of Masambuka and that severe punishment is given to those involved.
He further expressed that such cases may be due to the corrupt recruitment process in existence.
“People are employing each other on grounds of being related. This may make others think they are above the law and engage in such acts,” Mbewe elaborated.
