The Malawi National Women’s Senior Netball team, on Friday, registered a defeat in their opening match against England in the ongoing 2018 Gold Coast 21st Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The Queens have been thrashed by 49 to 74 baskets.
The Queens trailed behind the English ladies right from the first quarter until the final whistle.
The Queens showcased superb skills, more especially in the first two quarters, but the fast passing ball displayed by their counterparts denied the Queens any chance of breaking the winning silence over England which has existed for quite a long period now.
This is the Queens’ second defeat in the hands of the English side in just two weeks after they also went down at a four Nations Taini Jamison Trophy which took place in New Zealand.
The Queens task is still far from over as they have been lined up against their fellow African side Uganda on Saturday before facing the probably tournament’s tougher camp of New Zealand on Sunday.
The Queens are categorized in Pool B of the Commonwealth Games together with England, Uganda, New Zealand, Wales and Scotland.
