Malawi National Netball Team Shooter, Mwawi Kumwenda, has been named the 2018 Commonwealth Games best shooter during the recent competition held in Gold Coast Australia.
Mwawi, who plays for Vixes Netball Club in Australia, managed to score 254 baskets during the competition.
This is the second successive accolade at the competition after achieving the similar feat at the 2014 Glasgow games in Scotland.
Mwawi has beaten Peace Proscovia of Uganda who came second with 202 baskets, while Chelsea Lewis of Wales came third with 192 baskets.
During the competition, the Queens who are currently on sixth position in the world, managed to beat the world’s number two team New Zealand.
Writing on her facebook page, Mwawi thanked netball fans across the globe for supporting the Queens during the competition.
“What a great experience and amazing time we had at Commonwealth Gold Coast 2018. We have learnt alot during this period, I believe next time we are going to do much better.”
