The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) has elected renowned agricultural expert, Prince Kapondamgaga as its new president.
Kapondamgaga, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) was elected by members of the chamber at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Blantyre on Wednesday.
Before his election, Kapondamgaga was the deputy president for the council for the chamber.
He has replaced Karl Chokhotho whose mandate expired after serving in the council for the chamber for four years.
MCCCI is a partnership of enterprises and associations representing all sectors of Malawi’s economy.
The chamber is key for Malawi’s socio-economic development as it is regarded as the engine for the private sector.
