A 32-year-old man is in police custody at Kanengo in Lilongwe for allegedly sexually assaulting three young girls aged between 14 and 15 years.

Kanengo Police Station Publicist, Labani Makalani said the suspect, Clever Kachala is alleged to have been defiling the girls between the months of November 2017 and April 2018.

Sub Inspector Makalani added: “The suspect is alleged to have been defiling the three girls on several occasions in return for money which he was rendering them and the incidents were taking place in Area 25.”

He further said the suspect has been going out with the victims to different beer drinking joins where he was forcing them to take alcoholic drinks before defiling them.

Parents of the victims discovered about the issue after their children had gone missing for a period of about seven days, from 5th to 12th April and later reported the matter to police.

A medical examination which was conducted at area 25 Health Center in Lilongwe, established that the girls had been defiled.

Clever Kachala hails from Matemba village, Traditional Authority Chadza in Lilongwe, and is expected to appear before court soon to answer three separate charges of defilement under section 138 of the penal code.

Following the incident, Kanengo police station is appealing to parents and guardians to jealously guard their children especially girls.
