Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on Tuesday embarked on a training of civic and voter education assistants in the southern region.
Speaking to YFM online, MEC Commissioner Elvy Kalonga Mtafu said: “The commission will allocate one voter assistant to each and every constituency in the country in order to reach to many with civic education.”
“The assistants will be in all the 193 constituencies which the country has.
“This initiative will help people to be fully knowledgeable about how and why they should vote in the next year’s tripartite elections.
“The 2014 elections, the country performed well and the same has to happen next year in reducing the null and void votes across the country,” Mtafu said.
