Police in Phalombe have arrested two people for being found in possession of human tissue.
Phalombe Police Public Relations Officer, Innocent Moses identified the two as Denzio Roderick, 49 and Davison Molia, 41.
Moses said the suspects were arrested after a tip from a business man at Dulankhani Trading Centre around Mulomba area in Traditional Authority (TA) Mkanda in Mulanje district.
“The two went to the business man on Tuesday during the early hours with fresh umbilical cord of a baby for sale wrapped in a plastic paper which they were selling at K350, 000.00.
“The business man told the suspects to wait for some time for them to get the money. After a while the business man went outside and called the police,” he said.
Moses said the officers managed to seize the fresh umbilical cord and further investigations on the matter are currently underway.
Rodrick and Molia come from Taditional Authority Mkanda.
