The Blantyre derby between defending Champions Be Forward Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday grossly netted K40.3 million from gate collections.
The match ended goalless thereby leaving both teams tied on seven points from three games in the first round of the 2018 TNM Super League.
Super League of Malawi (Sulom) Treasurer, Tiya Somba Banda said he was impressed with the amount collected.
“We are happy with measures we had put in place in order to discourage free entry most by supporters of the two teams. Police and stewards did a commendable job on the day.
“We thank fans for supporting the game by coming to watch it,” he said.
The participating teams and ground owners got K8.8 million each while Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and Sulom got K3.5 million each.
The Malawi National Council of Sports pocketed K1.7 million while Police cashed K588, 000 and Stewards went away with K 676,000.
