Two men are in police custody in Zomba for allegedly being found in possession of Indian hemp.
Zomba Police Station Public Relations Officer, Patrick Maseko identified the suspects as Mayeso Mwahala, 25, and Bongo Maseko.
Maseko said the suspects were arrested on May 2, 2018 by Detective Sergeant Thom Lampozo as they were travelling from Zomba to Blantyre in a Toyota Corolla registration number KU 5415.
“Upon arrival at the check-point the two stopped for search and in the process they were found with 11 sachets of cannabis sativa and 5 kilograms of pounded cannabis sativa.”
The two are expected to appear in court soon to answer the charges of being found in possession of cannabis sativa.
Mayeso Mwahala hails from Kang`oma village in Traditional Authority Tsabango in Lilongwe while Bongo Maseko hails from Mandala village in the area of Traditional Authority Champiti in Ntcheu district.
