The Malawi under 20 National soccer team has arrived in the country this afternoon from Angola after a successful Africa Cup of Nations second leg assignment.
On Sunday, the Junior Flames defeated Angola by 4-1 in a game played in Luanda.
The team has arrived through Chileka International Airport in Blantyre.
The junior Flames defied the odds, by turning the tables of 2-1 loss from their first leg match which took place at Bingu National Stadium.
In Sunday’s game, the Junior Flames went into the field like a wounded buffalo, and strike all their four goals during the first half.
The goals were scored by Kelvin Kadzinje, Ospicious Kadzongolo, Chikondi Mbeta and the final one was nailed by the African Union Sports Council Region Five awards nominee, Peter Banda.
The Angolan side came into their senses in the second half when they scored a consolation just after two minutes but their effort was not enough to stop the Junior Flames from carrying the day.
The result means the Junior Flames have made it through by a 5-3 goal aggregate. The next game for the Junior Flames will be against South Africa’s Amajita who made it after defeating Mozambique.
The first leg match between the two sides will be played either on 13th, 14th or 15th of July in South Africa while the return match will be played either on 20th, 21st or 22nd of July here at home.
