Minister of Civic Education Grace Chiumia has refuted claims that she has removed a gear box from an ambulance at Nkhata-Bay District Hospital which developed a fault and she volunteered to maintain it.

Speaking in an interview with YFM, Chiumia, was so surprised about the issue but she claimed the vehicle is operational.

However, Chiumia refused to comment further on the allegation leveled against her, saying the District Commissioner was in a better position to comment on the matter.

“I’m wondering the vehicle is moving. Call the DC to get the truth of the matter,”the Nkhata-Bay West Legislator said.

District Commissioner for Nkhata-Bay, Rodney Simwaka confirmed that Chiumia replaced the first gear box but after some quarrels with people in the district, she removed the new gear box and replaced it with the old one.

Simwaka disclosed that at the moment the vehicle is grounded, contrary to what Chiumia said earlier.
