A young lawyer, Yilinane Njikho has died following a road accident in Ntcheu district.
Njikho, 27, was working with a Lilongwe based legal firm, Mtupila and Company.
He was travelling on the Lilongwe-Blantyre M1 road when the accident occurred on Sunday at about 1600hrs near Kangankundi Farm.
Deputy Spokesperson for Ntcheu Police Station Sergeant Andrew Kamanga said the deceased’s motor vehicle hit a stationed lorry.
“On arrival near Kangakundi farm he hit from behind the said broken down motor vehicle which has been parked on the nearside lane facing same direction.” he said.
“The broken down motor vehicle registration number VZW 818 GP Nissan Lorry was parked by Mr. Josephy Mawuya, 35, from Machinjiri village in Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre.
Kamanga said following the impact Njikho sustained a deep cut on the forehead and fracture on the right shoulder and died on the way to Balaka District Hospital.
He said the deceased’s motor vehicle registration number NA 9824 Nissan Tiida Ratio got extensively damaged whilst the lorry got its rear bumper and door depressed.
Late Counsel Yilinane Njikho was from Masasa, Monkey Bay in Mangochi district.
