Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) has advised women to develop a saving culture by participating in village saving groups in order to be financially stable.
Community mobilization coordinator for the organization, Jacob Nyirongo, said this during the disbursement of money which was saved among YONECO women savings group at Mapale in Zomba district.
Nyirongo said it is YONECO’s objective to empower women so that they are financially independent.
“This is part of the corporate social responsibility hence we had to mobilize women so that we can strengthen their economic muscle,” Nyirongo said.
Nyirongo further said the saving groups have helped YONECO as an organization to share different issues affecting their day to day life.
In her remarks one of the group members Mrs. Mzima, said the women have learnt a lot from the saving groups as they are now able to support their families and personal growth.
She further urged women who have not joined any savings group to do so in their communities.
