The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has dismissed claims that it requested financial support from government entities for its forthcoming national elective convention.
In a statement made available to YFM, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Francis Kasaila, said the allegations flooding in social media are false.
Part of the statement reads: “The Democratic Progressive Party has not requested for any financial or material support towards its forthcoming convention. As a party we have been fundraising and we have resources to manage our convention.”
Kasaila warned political parties which the party believes are responsible for the allegations that they should concentrate on their visions and strategies so that they win votes faithfully.
“It is clear that the opposition is filled with people without integrity and therefore they do not deserve votes of Malawians in the forthcoming elections.”
Earlier this week, there were reports that the DPP had requested funding from government departments like the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) to be used at their forthcoming convention.
