Malawi Electoral Commission – MEC has intensified different interventions in order to avoid voter apathy in the 2019 elections.

Commissioner Moffat Banda said the interventions include drama, dances, football matches and trainings of community radio personnel.

Banda added that the activities are essential for many people to understand the importance of participating in elections.

“We have organized live performances and these come from areas where people do stay. We want performers to sing in a language that many people can understand the importance of taking part in voting,” he said.

Banda added that the training of the community radios personnel will help to disseminate messages to the rural masses.
