Police in Mwanza are keeping in custody a 25-year-old woman for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a minor.

Public Relations Officer for Mwanza Police, Edwin Kaunda said they arrested Agnes James following the complaint from the victim’s mother.

“The victim gained courage and told his mother about the issue on the 9th of June 2018 stating that he kept quiet for a period as the woman was telling the victim not to tell anyone,” he said.

Following the concerns from the mother, the suspect was arrested and she appeared in court on June 18 2018 but she denied the charges.

James who comes from Mchotseni Village in Traditional Authority Kanduku in Mwanza.

She is being charged with engaging in sexual activity with a minor which is contrary to section 160B (1) of the penal code.
