First phase of the voter registration exercise is coming to an end on July 9, 2018 amid concerns of low turnout at registration centers.
Phase one is covering Salima, Dedza and Kasungu districts as well as Kasungu Municipality.
Chief Elections Officer at Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Sam Alufandika that the centers will be closed by 4PM.
“The Commission is advising all people in areas covered under phase one of voter registration, who have not registered, to go to the nearest centre in their ward to register before 4.00PM on Monday,” Alufandika said in a statement.
He said the commission has put in place measures to ensure that all eligible persons register.
Alufandika added: “All staff have been advised to register all people that will present themselves at a centre before closing time on Monday.”
