Police in Ntchisi are looking for a man for allegedly beheading his three-year-old step daughter.
Ntchisi Police Station Public Relations Officer Gladson M’bumpha said the deceased’s head was found burnt with both her neck and private parts removed.
M’bumpha identified the suspect as Yona Daniel of Mdzeka village in Tradition Authority Chilooko in the district.
“The incident happened on Sunday July 15, 2018 at chipacha village in the district. According to police investigations the suspect and the deceased‘s mother, Rebecca Luka, 26, have been separated since June this year due to family issues,” he said.
“It is alleged that the suspect on Sunday 15 July 2018 arrived at the house of his ex-wife but did not talk to each other and instead the wife rushed to a house of a community policing chairperson to inform him about the presence suspect in the village.”
“After Luke left home the suspect asked the deceased to accompany him to buy her sweets at a nearby shop but he took her to unknown destination and never returned. Efforts were made to found out the two but to no unveil.”
M’bumpha said the deceased was later found beheaded on July 16, 2018.
“Police visited the scene and the head of the deceased was found burnt, her neck and private parts were removed,” he said.
The dead body was taken to Ntchisi District Hospital where postmortem was conducted which revealed that death was due to excessive loss of blood.
