The murder trial of Misozi Chanthunya will continue at the High Court in Zomba on Wednesday after a long debate on whether defense lawyer, Fostino Mayere is the right person to represent Chanthunya.

Chanthunya is being accused of murdering his Zimbabwean girlfriend Linda Gasa in 2010.

During the start of the trial on Tuesday, lead state counsel, Dr. Steven Kayuni pointed out that counsel Mayere was part of the team that represented the state in the same case in 2011, hence his involvement in the trial will be a conflict of interest.

Presiding judge, Dr. Redson Kapindu is expected to deliver his judgement on the issue on Wednesday afternoon after hearing from both sides.
