National Association of Small and Medium Enterprise (NASME) says the recent Tanzania – Malawi join Trade and Investment Forum will promote cross border trade between the two countries.
The Tanzania-Malawi joint Trade and Investment Forum was held from July 26-27, 2018 in Tanzania.
NASME’s Executive Chairperson William Mwale told YFM that due to the forum, transportation challenges and high custom duties are expected to be reduced in order to achieve improved business environment.
Mwale said transportation of various commodities to and from the country which has been one major hindrance trade in the country, which will hence promote cross border trade between the two countries.
He said the development is a sigh of relief to business players in the country.
Mwale added that low custom duties will also increase confidence in the business players and lure more people into trade and boost up the country’s agricultural sector which is the main backbone of the country’s economy.
The first ever Tanzania-Malawi joint Trade and Investment Forum was attended by 15 Malawian small businesses enterprises, government delegations and other international exhibitors.
