The body of former netball star shooter, Emma Mdzagada, has been laid to rest on Wednesday at Michiru CCAP cemetery in Chilomoni Township.
Late Mdzagada, who was once a long time star for the Queen’s, died on Monday at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after a long illness.
A well-known veteran player, who is also the current coach for Tigresses, Peace Chawinga Kaluwa, has described the late Mdzagada as a person who was always jovial has greatly contributed to the current success of the country’s netball national team.
Chawinga said: “She was a successful player who was always in a jovial mood and she helped to bring the Queen to the limelight and apart from that she has also rendered technical assistance to the young netballers in the country hence she will be greatly missed.”
The late Emma Mzagada, has played for a number of teams including; Produsack before moving to Silver Strikers.
She later joined Postinates which was renamed MTL Queens and now called Thunder Queens.
She played for thunder Queens until the year 2010.
The late Mdzagada started playing for the National team in 1995 and travelled to a number of countries.
Her last trip was in 2009 when she travelled with the Queens to Manchester city in England.
During her carrier she played alongside the stars like Mary Waya, Linda Magombo Munthali, Silvia Malenga Mtetemera, Peace Chawinga Kaluwa and the late Connis Mhone.
She has died at the age of 50 years.
