National Statistical Office (NSO) says preparations for the fourth coming Housing and Population Census are at an advanced stage.

Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Manda said they are currently recruiting officers for the census.

“So far we have managed to finalize the printing of maps and purchase of the tablets that will be used.”

Manda added that the newly recruited enumerators will undergo a one week training starting from August 27 in order for them to familiarize with the software’s that will be used.

He also said this census will help in collection of data on household characteristics and household assets which will help the government to come up with poverty indicators.

Manda has therefore urged people in the country to make sure that they give out correct information when the exercise commences.

Malawi conducts Housing and Population Census after every 10 years.
