The first week of the second round of the 2018 TNM Super League has registered a total of eighteen goals from nine games played on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, nine goals were registered from five games while on Sunday the same number of goals were converted from four games played.
All the teams who came out victorious on Sunday won their matches by two goals.
Nyasa Big Bullets, who shocked the bottom placed Karonga United with a 2-0 clash on Sunday, have opened a six points gap ahead of the second placed Silver Strikers, and seven ahead of their traditional archrivals Mighty BeForward Wanderers.
Currently the people’s team are comfortably leading by 38 points.
Silver Strikers found themselves on a knife edge after failing to secure three points which would have been vital for the Bankers to safely secure their second position.
The Bankers were taken by surprise on Sunday after suffering 2-1 loss from the hands of sixth placed Azam Tigers.
The Banker’s loss has paved way for the Nomads to close in a gap with just a single point difference causing the race to be tight.
Lali Lubani boys’ late goal on Saturday, which saw them beating Kamuzu Barracks 1-0, gave Nomads hope of staying into the race with their Blantyre archrivals, Big Bullets.
Civil Sporting Club are still stuck on fourth position following a point collected after being held 1-1 by the visitors Karonga United.
The most casualties in of the week were MAFCO FC who are showing no sign of correcting their last season weaknesses, and Nchalo United who are still stuck on the edge of relegation zone.
