National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) says it has started engaging the ministry of Labor, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development to formulate new guidelines in the National Youth policy (NYP).
Speaking to YFM, NYCOM Executive Director Dingiswayo Jere, said the policy helps organizations to have a clear picture on how they can implement projects that enhance young people’s lives hence the review of the policy is being done with urgency.
“The policy has done well in terms of harnessing and bringing together youth activities and highlighting some of the things that youth organizations need to do to promote young people in the country,” Jere said.
“Right now we are in the process of discussing with the ministry responsible for the youth to see to it that we have new policy.”
According to Jere, the new guidelines are expected to promote government’s agenda on youth development and empowerment in creating more job opportunities and will replace the 2013 NYP which phased out last month.
