People in the country have been urged to seek guidance and counselling when facing problems in older to prevent suicide cases which are on the rise in the country.
Nation Police Publicist James Kadadzera told YFM that they are overwhelmed by rising suicide cases in the country.
He disclosed that most of the cases are caused by family wrangles, huge debts and prolonged illnesses.
“As police we have noted with a deep a concern about the rising cases of suicide, often times the prevailing reasons include family wrangles and chronic illnesses,” Kadadzera said.
He appealed to the general public to desist from taking their own lives.
“Whenever you have intra- personal conflict, please find the relevant authorities like the police, community leaders to share their concerns for help,” he said.
On September 12 Malawi joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Suicide Prevention Day.
