The ministry of Information and Communications and Technology says it is committed to improving quality of internet to boost the tourism industry in the country.
Speaking to YFM Online, the Minister responsible for the ministry Nicholus Dausi said government has aligned a number of projects aimed at improving internet access which among others include national cyber backbone project.
“Indeed we have a problem of internet in Malawi but were embarking on national backbone project and last mile connectivity aimed at improving the internet in various institutions and people’s houses we are on phase 2 of the project,” said Dausi.
This comes at a time when the tourism sector is failing to connect its businesses with tourists around the world due to low quality of internet in the country.
