An agriculture analyst and business man Felix Jumbe has tipped farmers to plant drought tolerant crops, in the wake of El Nino weather.
He has made the call amid fears that this year’s rain would affect agriculture yields.
“Preparation is key in this case and these measures should be implemented as early as possible,” Jumbe said.
He further asked extension workers to be vibrant and school farmers on profitable farming techniques.
“The extension workers should be able to provide advice to farmers on the crops which can withstand the harsh weather,” he added.
“It is also critical for farmers to conserve water and plant at the earliest opportune time when adequate rains fall.”
