Government has admitted that there are inadequate safe places in the country where children access psychosocial support.
In an interview with YFM online, director of child affairs in the ministry of gender, children, disability and social welfare, McKnight Kalanda said there is need for all players to collaborate in order to address the situation.
“As government we are aware of the status quo and we feel that there is more that needs to be done in order to establish such facilities,” said Kalanda.
He highlighted that they will soon engage civil society organisations and district councils to bang heads on the issue.
“We are planning to meet with other players so that we bang heads on the matter, it’s a cause for worry but we know if we collaborate we will succeed.”
