The Malawi Government says it will finalize the construction of community technical colleges in all the districts by the end of March this year.
Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Henry Mussa said the initiative is progressing very well despite some challenges.
“It has attracted a lot of interest from our corporate partners where the European Union has come on board now by constructing and providing equipment including the People’s Republic of China,” he told YFM.
Mussa disclosed that so far the Chinese government is constructing five additional technical colleges in additional to 10 skills development centers and 10 technical colleges.
He said government has already constructed 15 technical colleges and the remaining 13 technical colleges will be ready by the end of March this year.
The community technical colleges offer different trades in Carpentry and Joinery, Plumbing, Welding and Fabrication, Tailoring and Fashion Design, Motorcycle Mechanics, Electrical Installation, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Bricklaying among others.
