Vice President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima on Wednesday disappointed Malawians who anticipated that he would unveil his running mate.
Chilima addressed a press conference in Lilongwe where he said he would keep his running mate a surprise to Malawians until the day he would present his nomination papers to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).
“Why is everyone so interested in the issue of the running mate I would like to keep that as a surprise until next week when I will be presenting my nomination papers,” said Chilima.
MEC informed the public that presentation of nomination papers by candidates for Presidential Parliamentary and Local Government elections will be held from 4th to 8th February, 2019.
Presidential candidates are expected to announce their running mates hence Malawians anticipating that the vice president’s press briefing would centre on the issue.
At the press briefing Chilima condemned violence in the country especially the killings and abductions of persons with Albinism.
