Masters Security Football Club General Secretary, Zacharia Nyirenda, has announced his resignation from the club.
In a letter dated 31st January, addressed to the club’s patron, Nyirenda said his resignation is with immediate effect.
He said the decision has been reached following his plans to compete for the post of vice general secretary for Super League of Malawi (SULOM) in polls scheduled for March 2.
“As you are aware that am currently vying for the post of Vice General Secretary for the SULOM in the next month (March), I therefore resign with immediate effect,” reads part of the letter.
He further expressed his gratitude to the owner of Masters Security FC, Alfred Gangata and the entire club for the opportunity accorded to him to serve the club.
A proposed list of potential office bearers earmarked to run the Super League governing body was leaked with names such as Zachariah Nyirenda himself and his working mate at Masters Security, Muhammad Selemani, who is the club’s Team Manager.
However, Selemani is gearing to vie for the post of legal advisor.
During the previous season, under Zakaria’s reign, Masters Security managed to surprise the soccer world by grabbing the 2018 Carlsberg cup trophy at the expense of cup favorites, Be Forward Wanderers.
The team also finished fourth on the 2018 TNM Super League log table to book a place in the 2019 Airtel Top 8 trophy.
