Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) says its premier division league sides should not panic following the withdraw of sponsorship by United Purpose (UP).
SRFA chairperson, Raphael Humba, gave the assurance after UP announced that it will not renew its one year Chitetezo Mbaula premier league sponsorship which has expired.
The announcement was made on Sunday during the award presentations ceremony for the 2018 SRFA Chitetezo Mbaula Premier League season.
Humba said: “I have been saying that we have a committee which is capable of doing wonders and we were aware that this was a one year marriage so we started scouting other sponsors way back and I can assure all the concerned parties that the new sponsor will be known by Wednesday next week.”
He further revealed that five sponsors are already on table ready to take over the sponsorship of the league and SRFA is in the process of scrutinizing them to choose one.
He further praised the departed sponsor for putting SRFA league on the map through Chitetezo Mbaula brand.
Breaking the silence on the sponsorship withdraw, UP’s marketing manager, Liviness Msafu, said despite the decision, they are impressed with the way the league has been run.
Msafu added that the company’s wish of promoting Chitetezo mbaula product has been fulfilled.
She further promised that UP still has a passion for sports in the country and will come back with more sponsorship in future.
United Purpose has sponsored the lower league for one year under a brand name ‘Chitetezo Mbaula’ to a tune of K11 million.
