Government has rolled out the second phase of recruitment of interns under the Jobs for Youth (J4Y) targeting a total of 2,000 young graduates.
A statement by the ministry of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development said second phase will carter for young graduates with certificates, diplomas and degrees from universities and TEVETA colleges.
The statement said that the duration for the second phase is 12 months starting from February 4, 2019 to January 31, 2020.
All recruits were expected to confirm their availability by February 5, 2019 ahead of their orientation on February 11, 2019.
Minister of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development, Francis Kasaila disclosed to the media that a total of 2,227 interns were engaged in the first phase of the project from September last year to June this year.
“The project was implemented in a bid to address challenges that the youth face in accessing employment,” he said.
The ministry is implementing the project with support from The African Development Bank (AfDB)
