Zomba district health office says it has commenced preparations for mass administration of cholera vaccine.
Health Environmental Officer Innocent Mvula told YFM that currently their office is recording data as a requirement by the ministry of health and Population to know the number of people who are at risk of the deadly disease.
“Zomba district is one of the cholera hotspots so we have started the preparations for cholera vaccination,” he said.
However Mvula did not mention the precise date for the start of the exercise saying the ministry will communicate after receiving the required data.
“I think the official communication will come from the headquarters of our ministry as to when the administration will be done if all is done,” he said.
The last cholera vaccination exercise was carried out in 2014 in the district.
