21 people have been confirmed dead in a horrifying road accident Friday morning at Kampepuza Trading Center in Ntcheu.

Ntcheu Police spokesperson Inspector Hastings Chigalu said dozens have been injured and five were rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe with serious injuries.

He said the accident involved a freight liner truck which lost its breaks and hit minibuses and traders along the road.

Chigalu said the driver of the vehicle has been charged with causing death due to reckless driving.
