At least 65 people have been affected after hail storm wreaked havoc at Chesamu in Nkhata Bay district.

Head teacher at Kasangazi Primary School, who is the meteorological department contact person for the area, Moses Banda, confirmed the development to YFM adding that maize and cassava fields including four houses have been destroyed.

The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) said it is waiting for an official communication from the area.

Meanwhile, people who have been affected do not have any help apart from the food that they are getting from neighbours.
