Central Region Volleyball League (CRVL) committee has received a boost after securing a new sponsor, Twenty First Century System Limited.
The sponsorship is for a total of K6m per year for a period of three years.
Confirming the development, CRVL General Secretary, Dr. Tarsizio Chikaonda, said the amount is what is currently agreed but negotiations between the two sides are still going on for further consideration.
Dr Chikaonda said: “Our negotiations with Twenty First Century System Limited has been there for quite a long time and discussions are still going on for a possible increase of the sponsorship money.”
However, Dr Chikaonda praised the sponsor saying the gesture will assist in the development of the sport in the central region and the country at large.
He said volleyball teams in the region are facing many challenges ranging from lack of equipment such as court nets, balls.
Volleyball courts being used by the teams have also been described as being far from recommended standards.
He therefore expressed hope that the sponsorship will help in promoting the sport since the improvements that will come with the assistance will act as an encouragement to the would-be-players especially the youth.
2019 CRVL season is expected to start next week, immediately after winding up of the 2018 season.
