The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has appealed to the general public to patronize Thursday’s peaceful nationwide demonstrations and demand for their rightful destiny.
HRDC Chairperson Timothy Mtambo told YFM that the demonstrations are calling Malawians to a duty to defend the future and destiny of the nation.
“The future of Malawians was locked by selfish and heartless people that were tippexing the will of Malawians,” he said.
Mtambo said that the demonstrations will be violent free hence the public should be assured of maximum security.
“This is a peaceful demonstration all those demonstrations we have had as Human Rights Defenders have been peaceful because we believe in non-violence means to achieve change.”
Mtambo said people need to rise up against human rights violations and demand accountability.
Public Affairs Committee (PAC) Publicity Secretary Father Peter Mulomole expressed optimism that the demonstrations will be successful as Malawians have realized that it is high time they rise up and claim for what is theirs.
“It’s in order that people should be on the streets and show how they feel instead of complaining in their houses. Its high time Malawians stood up for their rights,” Mulomole said.
