Organizers of the 31st Malawi International Trade Fair have admitted that this year’s event was poorly patronized.
In an interview with YFM spokesperson for the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) Millie Kasunda said exhibitors also raised the same concern.
“It is true that this year’s event was characterized by a low turnout of people who visited different pavilions.”
“We believe that the political and economic environment in the country has contributed to this,”Kasunda added.
Nonetheless Kasunda said the fair managed to achieve its objectives.
“Our goal is to facilitate business links between and we are certain that this will assist some businesses to grow.”
Kasunda also highlighted that on the last day of the fair they got some feedback from the exhibitors and patrons and this will assist them to improve on the upcoming fairs.
The fair run from 6th to 18 August under the theme “Achieving competitiveness through integration into regional value chains”.
