Machinga Teachers Training College (TTC) students have staged demonstrations on campus to show their frustrations over persistent water shortage at the school.
The municipal training school for teachers has reportedly been facing intermittent water supply problem for a period of two years which is not being addressed by authorities.
Machinga TTC Students Union vice secretary Daniel James told YFM on Tuesday that the students are fed up with problems of water shortage at the school.
“It is surprising to see staff houses having running water but there is no running water in the hostels and at the school,” James said.
He said the students resorted to demonstrations after feeling cheated by the college’s principal on the matter.
“The principal of Machinga Teachers Training College should respond now because he promised to resolve the issue of water in the space of ten days and because the ten days are up and nothing has changed we have started demonstrating,” James said.
Machinga Teachers Training College principal was not immediately available for comment when contacted.
