Former temporary registration officers have given United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) a 4-day ultimatum to facilitate payment of their compensation.
A grouping of the ex-registration workers presented a petition of their grievances to UNDP offices in Lilongwe on Monday.
The grouping is claiming that during the mass registration exercise for national identity cards they received less allowances than what they were supposed to get.
Spokesperson for the grouping Madalitso Phiri said they have taken the issue to UNDP because the organization was one of the financers of the mass national registration exercise.
He said that if UNDP fails to intervene, they will seek legal redress.
Both UNDP and National Registration Bureau (NRB) officials were not available for comment.
