The Malawi Beach Soccer National team, on Tuesday, registered its second consecutive defeat at the ongoing 2019 COPA Dares Salaam Beach Soccer Tournament in Tanzania.
Malawi lost to Seychelles by 8-9 in a game which entered into extra time after the two sides were tied at 7-7 in the regulation time.
The loss marks the team’s second consecutive defeat of the tournament after also lost in their opening match against Burundi by 5-7 on Monday.
The next games for Malawi will be against the hosts Tanzania and Uganda on dates to be announced by Tanzania Football Federation.
The team is taking part in this year’s competition alongside four other countries including the hosts Tanzania, Burundi, Seychelles and Uganda.
The games are being played in a round robin format and the champions will be determined by the number of points accumulated by each team.
The tournament, which began on December 22, will come to an end on December 26.
Malawi, which left the country with a squad of 10 players, finished on position four during their last participation of the competition in 2017.
