People living in Lilongwe have been advised to move to high grounds following heavy downpour that has caused floods in most parts of the city.
Over 1,000 people are lacking food and shelter following the floods that have hit Areas 25 and 50.
Speaking to YFM after visiting the victims, Lilongwe City Council Mayor Juliana Kaduya said it is high time people relocate to safer places.
Kaduya has also advised people in the city to avoid constructing houses along the river and streams.
Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Alfred Jiya has pledged support for the victims both in Areas 25, 50 and M’gona.
