Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Salim Bagus has shut down SANA Food Court in Lilongwe due to poor hygiene.

Speaking after touring the premises on Monday, Bagus said poor hygiene is tarnishing the reputation of his ministry.

According to a statement by the Tourism and Hotels Board, the premises have been closed for failure to comply with minimum standards in accordance with the Hotels and Tourism Act.

“The premises shall remain closed until the Tourism and Hotels Board re-opens it,” reads the statement in part.
